I love fresh starts, new beginnings. I think that’s why I love the start of a new year. It often feels like the world is once again wide open to conquer any way I choose. I’m not actually talking about world domination but in my own little world there are things I’d love to win over.
Before we get too far into 2020, I wanted to take today to catch you up on what’s been going on in my corner of the world over the past couple of months.

B build the sink table from scratch. When I told him what I wanted to do for a sink in the laundry area, I said I wanted the sink to sit in a small table. Of course I thought we’d buy a table and put a hole in it but B went to a local sawmill and bought oak boards and custom built the table.
We cleaned and refinished the sink and added new fixtures that look old. B also bought oak boards for the open shelves above the laundry sink.
Sadly once the shelves were in, the sink got lost against the light walls so we added the slate blue penny tile and viola, it’s just enough to make the sink pop.
All the trim is finished too. Baseboard and the crown around the top. This room (laundry and mudroom) came together perfectly! Now I can finally decorate!
The Dining Room.
We literally finished the dining room Christmas Eve Eve so the only photos I have are of the room fully decorated. I plan to get better photos for a future post where I’ll share all the details.

I need to pair down the display shelves so it doesn’t look so cluttered but the room turned out better than I pictured. Once again, B did a beautiful job building the upper cabinets from scratch and reusing the glass doors from the old built-in. Again, details to come.
Christmas Decor
I did more decorating for Christmas this year than ever before. Mostly greenery and trees but our home looked beautiful for the holidays.

Holiday Traditions
I love trying new things but there is something about the traditions that are centered around Christmas. My mom and I have made it a tradition to bake cookies together each year. We spent an entire day baking a variety of cookies in my kitchen and were so proud of our accomplishment…we were exhausted too!

I’m sure there are more but I think I have all the big stuff covered. I’ll be sharing in more detail what we did to finish each space in the coming weeks but I’m back and I’m excited about everything 2020 can be!
