October is flying by and I’ve fallen behind a bit with posting. I’ve been so busy in the shop getting it ready for the holidays and catching up with things at home, it’s been hard to juggle it all. It’s been a whirlwind the past couple of weeks and sadly it has been taking up much of my time. My schedule in the shop couldn’t keep me from sharing a new addition to our fall entry , this antique oak wash stand.
For months I’ve been wanting to move the old hall table to the beach house for under the television in the family room but I wasn’t in a hurry to make that move until I found something to replace it here at home. My goal was to find something a little smaller so the space feels less cramped and less farmhouse and more traditional to fit better with the house. Moving away from trends has been an ongoing goal here at home.
A few weeks ago, B and I were headed to my parents house for a family dinner and because we were early we decided to stop at a country store along the way. I hadn’t been there for years and was surprised at all the beautiful furniture and home goods they had. I spotted several pieces right away that I thought might be good options for our entry and then I found this beautiful oak wash stand with the pretty carvings. It was love at first sight and when I saw the price, I knew it had to come home with us.
B and I loaded it into the car and as soon as we got home that afternoon, I was hard at work making room for the new, antique piece. It’s perfect and I just had to move around some of my fall decor to make it feel right at home.
There were several other items that also could have come home with us that day but this antique oak wash stand was by far the winner. I can’t wait to style it through the seasons to come!
