Summer isn’t officially here yet and it’s not feeling much like summer in Central PA. Even so, we are headed to the beach soon so I’ve got summer, warm weather and cool ocean breezes on the brain. It seems like the perfect time to round up some of my favorite summer accessories.
Whether working around the yard, strolling the boardwalk at the beach, lounging by the pool or anything else outside in the summer, a great hat is a must. When we aren’t camping, I prefer a wide brim straw hat. It helps protect my face from the sun but also makes me feel a little beachy even when I’m not at the beach.
Ok, sunglasses are a must all year round but I feel like they are a given in the summer. I usually loose or break a pair or two each summer so I like to stock up, keeping a pair in my car, in my bag and in the camper. I recently bought an adorable blush pair from LOFT but my J. Crew Factory ones are of my favorites. Go for something light weight for the summer and just like with regular glasses, find a shape that flatters your features.
In full disclosure, I lived in those cheap plastic flip flops all summer long just a few short years ago. I have since upgraded to adult sandals and I have never looked back. My work environment is pretty casual but I still like to go for sandals that aren’t too casual but they have to be comfortable. The right sandal can pair perfectly with shorts and a tee or with a great summer dress.
Beach Style Tote
Whether you are at the beach or just want to be, a great beachy tote is a fun summer accessory for day or a casual night out. Canvas and straw / braided bags scream summer and there are so many options out there even if you prefer a little more polish for work. (Check out the canvas bag from Banana Republic!)
If you burn easy like me or find the cool evening air a bit too much sometimes, a light weight scarf is a great summer accessory to have in your wardrobe. The right one can even add interest to your outfit during the day.
For many, accessorizing in the summer may be less of a priority. When the temperatures rise, it can often be too hot and uncomfortable to add a lot of bulk. They key is finding the right accessories and today I have shared with you my five favorites along with some current options available around the web.
Do you have a favorite summer accessory? If so, what is it?
