Hello friends. I’m back today with another review of my Stitch Fix subscription. After missing April’s post, I’m excited to share with you what came in my May fix because I requested some items this time that were a little different from what I was asking for from my stylist in recent months.
If you aren’t familiar with Stitch Fix yet, you can check out some of my other reviews (here, here and here ) and read all about how it works. May’s fix was my 16th and it’s been a great way to try new styles, brands and outfits that I never would have tried on my own.
For May, I really wanted my stylist to think more Business Casual. After going super casual over the winter, when pulling out my spring and summer wardrobe, I really felt like I needed some pieces I would wear to church, work events with B and even just for some of my own business events coming up. I also expressed my desire for more color and pattern. Much of what I’d been asking for in past months centered around neutrals so with the warmer weather finally here, I wanted to get out of all the drab colors. Now without any further delay let’s get on to my May Fix!
WISP Ceena Jersey Dress
When I first pulled out this dress, I wasn’t sure. I didn’t love the fabric but the pattern and colors were so pretty, I threw it on. I’m glad I did because the dress is extremely flattering for my hourglass shape. THe dress highlights my best features and covers over my least positive features. It’s clingly and hugs just enough that it looks good without making me feel too exposed. That length is perfect and the style would look great layered with a denim jacket and sandals or a blazer and heels.
41Hawthorn Breyson Pleated Detail Blouse
Navy works like a neutral and this sleeveless blouse is perfect in color and style. I can see this paired with jeans for a day in the studio or with a skirt of dress pants for a more polished look. The pleating gives it just enough detail without being too overpowering. I could see this layered under a cardigan or blazer too.
Daniel Rainn Estefany Lace Detail Split Neck Blouse
Hands down my favorite piece from this month’s fix. I was in love with this blouse as soon as I saw it. The color is beautiful and perfect with my hair in skin. The lace detail isn’t overly frilly but just enough to make the blouse more interesting. Another great top to pair with jeans or a more dressy look. Blouses like this are 100% my jam.
Skies are Blue Asa Knit Blazer
Grey is my preferred neutral if not navy and the rolled sleeves made this a great option for spring. I also really liked the knit material because it was comfortable. The downside to this blazer was that it felt a little frumpy or sloppy on me and didn’t flatter. I felt like it made me look bigger than I am so this jacket went back.
Margaret M Selma Piping Detail Skirt
This pencil skirt is beautiful. From the pattern to the colors and the pretty navy piping detail. I was really torn on this lovely. Unlike many pencil skirts that are huge in the waist and tight through the hips, this skirt fit perfectly. The downside for me was the price. I don’t wear pieces like this all the time so for $80, it seemed a bit pricey.
Now that I’ve been adding to my wardrobe for a while, I feel like I’m able to be more and more selective about the pieces I keep. My stylist does an amazing job every month so I always know I’m going to have trouble deciding what to keep and what to return.
