Small Update with Big Impact

Do you know what it feels like to have a million things you want to do to update a room or spot in your home but lack of time and extra money keep you from making those updates?  Just when you think you’ll be able to get started and something else happens to derail those plans.

That has been my life in my shop / studio for the past several months.  I’m not talking about paint or hardware, I’m talking about new floors, a wall of built-in cabinets and shiplap from floor to ceiling on three walls of the small, back office.

I started some updates in the shop last fall after I got myself settled in when my assistant left and since then I’ve been either too busy or investing in other things that these ideas for physical changes have taken a back seat.

Lately I’ve been thinking more and more about getting some of these larger updates started once our bigger project over in the house are wrapped up.

While I’m not really in a place to put in new hard wood floors or build floor to ceiling cabinets on the wall, I did rope B into helping me with one small update; a new door between the main shop area and the small, back office.

Even something small like swapping out the door makes a big impact.  Now more light comes through into the office from the shop and the tiny office feels more open because you can see into the other room.

I, like Joanna Gaines have a thing for doors and this lovely was purchased at an auction for $1 along with a few others that I have yet to use.  It’s not old and it doesn’t have intricate detailing but it’s perfect for this spot.

What small updates are you making around your house right now?  Leave a comment below and let me know.
