Valentine’s Day is just a few days away and even though B and I don’t make a big deal out of this holiday by spending a ton of money on flowers or chocolates, we do try to do something special even if it’s something small.
With everything that’s been going on in our personal lives recently, rather than the pressure of planning some big, fancy dinner, I thought a fun and festive breakfast would be better. B’s been traveling a lot for work and doesn’t always get home at the same time. Plus, B loves pancakes and waffles so after everything he did after the loss of my Dad a few weeks ago, I really wanted to do something he’d love.
Rather than just make waffles, I decided to make it festive to make it a little more special. I found this adorable little waffle maker for less than $10 and thought it would be perfect! This simple Valentine’s Day Breakfast table is proof that you don’t need to do anything crazy or spend a ton of money to make the day memorable.
OK, technically we don’t have a separate breakfast table so I set up our special little Valentine’s Day breakfast in our dining room.

These adorable paper doilies were from several years ago and are very inexpensive for a large package of them. Hobby Lobby has a couple sizes for less than $2 for 20! Mine are from Amazon from a few years ago but you can find them here.
It took just a few minutes to add some twine from the studio and some tape for a cute little banner for a touch of holiday charm without any stress of decorating.
My favorite realistic faux tulips make for a beautiful, but simple centerpiece. It’s too cold here for fresh flowers and I just used what I had rather than running to the grocery store for fresh flowers. Again, this is about keeping things simple and low cost.
For the heart-shaped waffles, I used my mini heart shape waffle maker and our favorite waffle recipe.
Even if you aren’t a big spender for Valentine’s Day, there are still so many simple and inexpensive things you can do to make the day special. I’m looking forward to sitting together on Tuesday morning, enjoying a nice little breakfast with B.
How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Do you go all out or do you prefer to keep it simple?
