Simple Mismatched Spring Mantle

At Home· Family Room· Home Decor

9 Apr

With so much going on in the World right now, I sometimes forget that Spring is here and this weekend is Easter.  B and I have been planning a nice Easter dinner, just the two of us with all the usual.

With that in mind, the other day while B was out picking up groceries for his parents, I decided to gather a few things from around the house to decorate our mantle.  Sadly we don’t have a lot of decor items because I never know what to buy but I managed to pull together a few things for our Spring mis-matched mantle.

One of our smaller lanterns, some hand-me-down Fenton Glassware that I’ve been considering getting rid of, some mis-matched wall art layered together with my magnolia garland and it somehow all comes together as a natural, muted spring vignette.

Even though we can’t be out right now, adding new life to our mantle, a space we are spending a lot of time in lately, gave us both a little boost in mood.  It’s quirky and imperfect but that’s what I like most about it.

What are you doing to add small boosts to your mood while at home?

If you follow along over on the blog at all, you k If you follow along over on the blog at all, you know that we've been slowly renovating a 1930s beach cottage in DE. Progress has felt slow at times and it hasn't been the most glamorous project to share thus far.

The design for the cottage has evolved a bit as we've progressed with the project and get a better feel for the spaces and what we actually want them to be.

The design started and has evolved based on the backsplash tile we picked for the kitchen (not shown). Slowly everything has fallen into place and this pretty much sums up the basic design for the entire cottage.

From the Serena & Lily wallpaper we'll be installing in the bathroom and hallway to the fabrics we are using for upholstery and blinds to the bathroom floor tile and accent paint colors.

With each step we take, I'm getting more and more excited to see this project go from design plan to reality!

This old fabric remnant inspired by spring decor c This old fabric remnant inspired by spring decor color palette for the family room. Shades of green, white and touches of golds / yellows. I've held on to this fabric for years and I think it's time to put it to use. Thinking of making a couple of pillow covers but would love some other ideas.
