I’m popping in today with an unscheduled post since I’ve gotten off schedule again lately. The shop is slowly being transformed and I am seriously loving the progress so far. I have so many ideas and some plans that I need to change so I’m looking for advice or suggestions from all of you to help me get things figured out.
First things first, the walls are painted. I used SW Sea Salt and I am seriously obsessed! It’s this pale, minty greenish-blueish-gray that looks a little different throughout the day as the light changes.
I love it so much I decided to paint my tiny office with it too and just the little bit I’ve done so far has really lightened things up so much! I think I’m keeping the teal brick accent wall though. I just love the contrast and the two colors mix well together. Now I just need to finish the walls in that small space. It’s on my list for this year yet if I can.
One of the two bookshelves is done. I started with the one that sits in the front of the shop because it was smaller and is seen the most. I decided to skip the pricey wallpaper and instead made my own stencil to mimic the look for much less. It also allowed me to use different colors and create my own look. I’m pretty thrilled with how it turned out. It’s currently cluttered with too much stuff while I’m working in there but you get the idea.
The rug arrived this week and it’s bigger than I thought. It’s my fault for not using a tape measure. I think I can make it work but I’ll need to do some reworking first. The rug will be one of the last things I put in the room anyway.
Right now, I’m stumped on the display wall. Originally I was going to do a faux ship lap kind of thing but I really don’t want to go too trendy or ‘farmhouse’. I don’t want to wallpaper or do anything too busy. I also don’t want it to be too bold. I had the idea to do a Venetian plaster finish on just that section in a complimentary color that I’m debating on. I would really love any input you may have. I realize I could just paint the bump out the same color as the walls and be done with it.
Right now I’m getting ready to paint the shelves over the counter and then I’ll be ready to paint the other wooden bookshelf.
The last thing before decorating is redoing this old beast. It’s been pink as long as I’ve been here but it’s time for something new. I was planning on going black with a faux marble top but the more I think about it, the more I question that choice. Maybe just a fresh coat of pink? More help required.
If all of this isn’t enough, B has been working in our guest bedroom installing new carpet. Once the carpet was in, we hated the wall color so off to the store we went for new paint and B picked this color called “Seaside”. It’s darker than I would have gone in such a small room but now that it’s done, it looks beautiful against the chunky white trim. I’m excited to get this room put back together and move on to the den.
So much happening and I’m starting to feel wiped out but I feel good about where things are headed right now, at home and at work.
