What? A new blog in 2017? Is it really worth it to start a blog this late in the game? Is it late in the game to be starting a new blog in 2017? I don’t know the answers to these questions, but I am going to find out with the launch of my new blog, Twig & White!
I am not new to blogging by a long shot. If there is one thing I am great at when it comes to blogging it’s failing. This time feels a little different though. I’ve been planning for months and the idea for the blog came out of my desire to make some changes in my work life. So here I am on this new journey. Welcome. I am so honored that you are here, taking a few minutes out of your day to spend it with me.
My name is Bethann. I am married, have dogs, live in an old house in an old, small town. I am a graphic designer, own a small business and above all, I believe in God. 2016 was a challenging year for me and my business. There were lots of ups and downs and by the end of the year, I really didn’t how or if I wanted to keep it going. If I’m being honest, I still don’t know exactly what I want to do except that I want to blog. Through an unexpected conversation with a family friend over Thanksgiving of 2016, the idea for Twig & White was born.
Unlike a lot of graphic design students, I didn’t have a desire to work in the marketing department of a company or work in an ad agency. I worked in a couple of architectural firms and loved architecture. I learned a lot and eventually learned how to build 3-d models and this background has definitely shaped who I am as a designer today. Even though I design mostly wedding stationery by day, I really have a love of design in other areas as well. I have also found a true passion over the past year or so for coaching startups find their place in the world of business ownership so these are the things I’ll be exploring here.
Twig & White is about designing a life and home that brings joy and happiness, function and longevity; something I have been lacking. “Twig” because I want to contribute to something bigger even though I’m small. White because it’s fresh, clean and pure just like this fresh new start is for me. Welcome to Twig and White. I hope you stay for a while!
