Modern Traditional Master Bedroom Progress

At Home· Bedroom· Home Decor· Renovations

25 Feb

The major work in the Master Bedroom is done and it’s finally time to put the room back together and make it pretty.  As a designer, this is the fun part though I appreciate all the foundation work that goes into getting a space to this point.  Today I’m here to share with you our modern traditional master bedroom progress up to loading in the furniture.

Next week I’ll share some progress on the furniture and accessories so be sure to stay tuned for that.  Today though it’s all about the paint.

I mentioned that after painting bedroom 3, we loved the paint so much we carried it into this room too.  You can read all about that here.

We had some repair work to do on the plaster in some of the corners and our ceiling and trim had never been painted since moving in so that’s where we started.

Once the repairs were made we got to painting.  The walls were light already but it never ceases to amaze me how fresh a room looks with new paint regardless of color.

In case you missed it, our room colors are:

Wall Color:  Sherwin Williams Oxford White
Trim Color: Sherwin Williams Magnetic Grey
The ceiling is standard “Ceiling White”

For contrast, I painted the windows and doors Sherwin Williams Iron Ore (Iron Ore SW 7069).  We’ve used it throughout the house and absolutely love the almost black, deep gray color.  You can see another project where we used this color here.

With the flooring done, the ceiling and walls painted, the trim painted and finished, it’s now time to start moving in furniture and accessories!

Master Bedroom Task List:

  • Patch cracks in plaster walls
  • Repair ceiling
  • Paint ceiling
  • Paint walls
  • Paint trim
  • Paint windows
  • Add new light fixture
  • Paint doors (partially complete)
  • Install floors
  • Sand and finish floors
  • Move in new furniture
  • Add new blinds
  • Add curtains
  • Add closet door
  • New night stands
  • New rug
  • Accessories
  • More
