Our Master Bedroom has been on my list of rooms I’ve wanted to tackle for close to two years now. I’ve attempted some updates in the room a few times but got stuck either because of budget or time so it’s full of projects I started and never finished. I’ve been looking at room inspiration for a few months now trying to figure out what exactly it is that I want for the space so that I can focus my priorities on the things that I can do with the least amount of time and money and I think I have finally narrowed down my list of things I want to do.
Today I thought I’d start by sharing some inspiration with you for the look I’m going for. Once I get my inspiration pulled together, I’ll be able to start working on the list of things I want to do so I have a more focused game plan. B and I really only know that we want a bedroom that feels light and airy and serene. We want it to feel warm and cozy and tranquil.
Our bedroom is pretty small and there are three doors, three windows plus a large radiator to contend with. The focal point really needs to be the bed so I’ve been dreaming up a headboard that B and I can build and paint that will add some texture to the room. With 10′ ceilings I’d also love a way to draw the eye up a bit. My vision is for the headboard to be tall and wide enough to mount lighting on on either side so we don’t have to have lamps on our side tables.
I thought I had a unique and creative vision for our headboard and then while looking for bedroom inspiration I found this:
This room really speaks to me from the colors to the patterns and of course the headboard! I also really love the mismatched side tables. Such a great idea and it keeps the room feeling more lived in, like it’s been created over time, not bought from a store all at once.
I also really love this bedroom below from Fixer Upper. Ok, seriously, I love everything about that entire house but I’m focusing on the bedroom here.
I seriously love everything about these two rooms from the colors to the patterns and the style. IT’s absolute perfection so they will serve as my inspiration for our bedroom makeover.
The project wont happen all at once but below are some of the things I’d like to do in our bedroom:
- Build headboard for bed
- find lighting for headboard above our nightstands
- find nightstands for both sides of the bed
- paint the storage chest
- New mattress
- Paint dressers
- Finish painting our bedroom walls
- Paint trim
- Find rug to help hide our ugly floors
- New privacy blinds
- New curtains
- Paint doors
- Add door to closet
- Art for walls
- accent pillows
