The second floor progress has now moved from the future lounge / Bedroom #3 into our master bedroom. This all started with needing new dressers and turned into a long series of projects that never really included completely redoing our bedroom. Now that we’ve started, I’m excited to finally be finishing our master bedroom right. It starts today with some master bedroom inspiration.
It’s interesting to see how my style and tastes change and evolve over time. I’m not sure if B and I have one specific style because we like elements from different styles. For our bedroom, I didn’t really have a vision when we started. As I mentioned, this was really only supposed to be new dressers.
Once we began working on the Lounge / Bedroom #3, I decided to carry the paint colors into our room as well. When our new furniture was delivered, it was put in the lounge and the dark wood of the furniture was a nice contrast with the light walls and grey trim.
Our furniture has a traditional / vintage feel. We both commented when it arrived that it has a sort of updated look of furniture we may have found in our grandparents homes.
Because the gray trim and white walls have a historic / vintage feel to them and the furniture has a similar vibe that’s also traditional, I really wanted to make sure our bedroom didn’t suddenly feel out of place with the rest of the house. I’m embracing our more modern traditional tastes in this room but I’m hoping to be able to add touches of other styles we love to keep this room more in line with the rest of the house.
Below are a few images that reflect the feel we are going for. Lots of neutrals, patterns and textures with small pops of color. We won’t have a huge feature wall so I’m leaning toward finding some really amazing curtains.
