Holiday Traditions: Baking Cookies and our Annual Tree Cutting

Christmas· Lifestyle· Real Life· Seasonal & Holidays

3 Dec

One of the things I love most about the holidays are the traditions. Both old and new, these are the special little things that happen only this time of year and the ones that become my fondest memories. While continuing traditions on year after year is great, I also love creating new ones and over the years, B and I have creates some of our own holiday traditions.

Holiday Traditions: Baking Cookies

For quite a few years, my mom and I plan a day in mid December to get together and back Christmas Cookies. We always bake way too many but being able to share them with friends and co-workers is also part of the fun. This year we baked at my house, making use of the large island to spread out our hard work. It’s exhausting but it’s also a fun day spent together talking, laughing and baking. Oh and we also enjoy the sampling!

Holiday Traditions: Annual Tree Cutting

One of my personal favorites is our tradition of cutting down our Christmas Tree. Good family friends of my in-laws have a large tree farm with so many kinds of trees. Every year, B and I load up the boys the Saturday after Thanksgiving and walk through the never-ending rows of trees on the hunt for the perfect one to take home and decorate.

It’s always a fun time for the dogs to get out and wander through the “woods” and talk with other people. There is just something special about the act of finding and cutting down the perfect tree.

What are your favorite holiday traditions?
