Farmhouse Kitchen Progress & Life Lately

At Home· Kitchen & Dining· Projects· Real Life· Renovations

31 Jul

Can you believe that July is nearly over?  As if this month didn’t fly by fast enough, it’s even harder to believe that we are staring fall right in the face.  This year has not gone at all the way I thought it would and while it does bother me that my plans have been thrown up into the air, I’m doing what I can and realizing that I may have overestimated how much I would actually do.

From making hypothetical plans for our kitchen remodel to diving right in head first.  From dealing with a sick dog to losing him and sinking me into some kind of depression and feeling increasingly frustrated and lost in my business; life this year has been a roller coaster of high highs and low lows.

It’s been a part of myself that I’m not familiar with so I’ve been saying “no” more, working a bit less and focusing more on the things that are most important.  Isn’t that what we are supposed to do anyway?

Between B’s long weeks with late meetings and traveling, holidays and a recent vacation to the beach, we are coming down the home stretch of the kitchen project finally.  While we still have a long way to go in the overall renovation project, the kitchen is down to the finishing touches and so far we are really loving the larger space and proximity to the family room.

I will be sharing more details from the kitchen in the near future leading up to the big reveal, but trust me when I say it’s all coming together quite well.  It makes me even more excited to get the rest of the renovation project finished so that we can really begin to enjoy all these changes in our home.

As I mentioned, we did take some time to get away in July.  We headed to Delaware to one of our favorite places along the ocean.  We also welcomed a new dog into our family. Ozzy is our newest addition and the time away with our whole family was great bonding and relaxing time that we all needed.

As we welcome in a new month, I’m refreshed and energized and ready to get into a new routine that incorporates more time here and bring my plan for more balance between the shop and here into reality.
