Family Room Makeover Update

At Home· Family Room· Home Decor

With all of the renovations going on on the first floor of our house over the past year, B and I began to see how tired our living room was looking.  Between the mismatched furniture and drab wall color, the room didn’t seem to fit the rest of the house so we decided to do a little family room makeover.

Last last fall, B and I agreed that instead of buying each other gifts this year, we’d instead put that money toward new furniture for the family room.  I shared our plans for the family room makeover back in December.

After ordering the sofa and chair, we decided to go all out and update the end tables, coffee table, rug and curtains too.  When it came time for the furniture to be delivered, we decided to repaint the room to add some color and break up all the grey.

The final family room makeover feels like home.  Seeing the room come together, I realize we lean a bit traditional but we are also very aware of the age and style of our house with anything that we do.

The new wall color is more color than we’ve been used to, but is a nice, calming base for all the neutrals of the furniture.  We’ve had the La Z Boy furniture for about a month now and we are definitely more than pleased with our  investment.

The coffee table is a favorite of the dogs.  They love curling up on top so they can see out into the kitchen and into the hallway from one place.  It’s also close the fireplace and they all love curling up near the fire.

We still have some painting to finish up in the back corner (visible in some of the photos) and, we still want to add some art and accessories. I would also like to eventually add in some pillows for more color, pattern and texture but I feel like the foundation is reset and as we finish the renovations, it will be fun to add in all the “pretty”.
