October has arrived and just looking around my neighborhood, the signs are everywhere. There is a slight chill in the air and the leaves are a rainbow of autumn hues from fading greens to yellow and red. Breezy days kick up the fallen leaves and you can hear them rustling as they blow by.

Now that Fall is in full bloom around here, I thought it would be fun to treat B to a little fall al fresco dining. He’s been so busy since we got back from vacation in September and I really wanted to give him a quiet and relaxing evening to kick back and savor the last of our yard before it gets too cold to enjoy.

To keep things feeling a bit more cozy, I moved our patio table into the corner where it’s a bit more closed in and private. I arranged our adirondacks on the other side of the firepit so we can enjoy s’mores for dessert and be seated warmly near the fire.

A quiet, date night at home doesn’t have to be anything fancy especially when it comes to B, so I made a warm and spicy pot of chili and baked some cornbread to go with. Some seasonal apple cider gives us a taste of the season too.

For added warmth, I draped both our chairs with throw blankets just in case it gets too cool and more add a cozy touch by the fire for when it gets dark.

This was such an easy meal to pull together, this could be done on a week night for the whole family or reserved for a quiet date night at home. It was fun to get a little fancy while still keeping things simple.

We continue to stay home except for the necessary outings so we continue to enjoy finding ways to make our time at home more special and memorable. This is definitely one of those memorable ones!
