Details from our Modern Farmhouse Kitchen

At Home· Home Decor· Kitchen & Dining

I struggle to define exactly what our style is.  B and I like a lot of different things. As we’ve gotten older, we like a more neutral, soothing color palette.  We like rustic elements but we also like clean, modern lines. We like cozy and warm spaces but we also like a little bling and anything that reminds of of the beach, the water and boating make us happy as long as it isn’t overly literal.

Our kitchen is kind of modern farmhouse but it also feels modern and even industrial but the warm wood floors and the soothing coastal wall color make it feel like “us”.

As I begin to stress more and more about being in a state of construction over the holidays, I’ve also realized that I’ve never shared what we have accomplished in our kitchen.  It’s still being used as storage for the other spaces we have been working on so full, finished photos haven’t been possible but today I thought I’d share some details of my favorite elements with you.

Our concrete counter tops are perfectly imperfect and full of texture.  B did a wonderful job and I’m so glad we did concrete over granite or marble.  There is just so much personality in our kitchen!

The simple white, shaker cabinets were a perfect choice and the matte black, modern hardware compliment the cabinets so well.  Black and white always looks good!

One of my favorite parts of the room is the patterned backsplash.  It ties everything together and the distressed look to the pattern keeps it all from feeling too new and polished.

I cannot wait to have the room cleared out so that I can share the entire room with you.  For now,  we are enjoying the new kitchen and the new flow of the house.
