Our dining room has been a work in progress since the renovations were finished a few years ago. We painted and added in furniture, but it never really came together or felt truly complete.
While one of our main challenges is our table, which is much too large for the space, we’ve been making the most of it until we are ready to invest in a new, better sized, table.
Early last summer, I found my french style hutch while thrifting in DE. I fell instantly in love when I saw it and it fits perfectly on the outside wall of our dining room.
The next update I’m planning to make is to replace one of the benches to our table with classic, slipcovered dining chairs. I’ve always loved this look and I think it will be a nice addition to our dining room as we try to make it more our style.
Because I have slipcovered dining chairs on my mind, I’m sharing a round up of my favorites from around the web.

There is something I love about each and every one and if that’s not enough, below are a few of my favorite dining rooms featuring classic slipcovered chairs.

For my own dining room, I’m tackling a DIY version inspired by all these lovely examples. A few months ago, B came home and said he found four chairs on a “free” pile along the road and thought they’d be great slipcovered. Sometimes he amazes me with his eye for seeing past the ugly though I teased that he spotted a “me” project from a mile away.
I’m hard at work creating my own slipcovered chairs and I can’t wait to show you the end result in the near future!
