I’ve been experimenting a bit this year with creating seasonal spaces without a lot of added decor. By using colors, textures and patterns I’ve attempted to create fall feeling spaces without the use of leaves and pumpkins.
I did this in our mudroom using a mustard yellow / gold and teal color palette and in our master bedroom I’ve created a moody feel that plays up our dark furniture.
I bought this beautiful duvet cover from Pottery Barn a couple months ago and just loved that it brings together a lot of colors I already have from the blues to browns to dusty blush pinks. Pulling the bed together was super easy using many things I already had.
The khaki quilt from our summer bedroom is the perfect base for the bedding. It’s still warm enough to get away with such a light quilt but layering on the duvet means a warmer layer is never far away for cooler nights.
The layers of pillows include two lovely woven euro pillows that I recently bought from Kirkland’s. The dark mauve lumbar is also from Kirklands and the lighter blush pink lumbar in the front is a cover from Pottery Barn.
I love the mix of textures on all the pillows and feel like without literal fall decor, they add the feeling of fall that is also cozy and welcoming.
I haven’t changed much on our nightstands from summer. They tend to collect clutter easily so I prefer to keep them simple. I did move one of my vases of hydrangea blooms from downstairs to my nightstand. They are so beautiful and it means I can enjoy them all over the house.
As I mentioned the other day, with our vacation last week, I haven’t had a chance to style our dressers for fall. If time allows in the next week or so, I’ll update this post with additional photos but I’m not going to sweat it if it doesn’t happen. This is real life my friends.
