All of life’s major celebrations begin with an invitation and Raspberry Creative as you covered.
Today is a big day in the world of my nearly 20 year old business and this blog. Today is the day that I get to officially share with you my “day job” and begin to blend my two worlds together. Welcome to Raspberry Creative where we celebrate life; celebrate every day!
As a child, I spent a lot of time drawing make-believe house plans, designing clothing for my paper dolls (yes, that shows my age) among many other things. As I got older and began thinking about my future, I really didn’t know how any of my interests could translate into a career.
When it was time for college, I started as “undecided” and because of some interest in my gen ed psychology class I declared that as my major. It wasn’t long however, until I realized that while I was interested in the topic, it wasn’t something I felt called to pursue or even felt any real passion for. I felt really lost and confused. There was actually some time where I felt like there was something wrong with me because I didn’t know what to do.
Three years into my college career, I called it quits and started working at various jobs. In early 2000, I landed a great job with a growing architectural and engineering firm and it was there that I was opened up to the world of graphic design and marketing.
In 2002 I went back to school for graphic design and never looked back. In 2005 I started my design business. At first my focus was on small business identity design and marketing materials but after landing a contract for ongoing work with a stationery retailer in 2007/2008, I quickly pivoted to wedding and special event stationery exclusively.
Raspberry Creative has changed and evolved over the years and been everything from a solo project to employing several employees.
As I get older, my passions are evolving and once again I see the slow pivot from what the business once was to something more aligned with my life now.
While I still love the act of creating beautiful stationery, the market has changed and I’m embracing the world of DIY more and more. While I still sell fully custom stationery packages and professionally printed invitation orders, I’m constantly expanding my printable offerings that customers can edit and print on their own.
This shift provides a lot of additional time for me to work on my business rather than in my business. Later this year I’m hoping to expand our product offerings once again into gift wrap and tags and some other lifestyle related items.
For today though, I want to share with you some of the great designs we carry for celebrating all of life’s special milestones.
