As much as I love our new kitchen, right now my favorite spot in the whole house is our pantry area and walk-through from the back door. The pop of color from the pantry door, the tie-in of the oak shelves with the black and white herringbone tile and the concrete counters. It’s just perfection in my eyes.

There was something missing though. The large blank exterior wall felt bland and unfinished but I wasn’t sure what to put there. I didn’t want anything too fussy or large but I wanted it to have some color.

On a whim I decided to take down our command center wall in the entry hall and move some of the pieces to this wall. Since the back door is the one we use most often, it made sense to have our drop off area there.

I rehung the corkboard and wooden arrow but added in this pretty green, metal shelf. It’s from World Market but it’s been sitting collecting dust for a couple years because I didn’t have a place for it. It’s perfect to hold a couple books, a cup for pens and some note paper. I also added a clipboard for our meal planner and the fun metal envelope that I’ve had from Target and never used.

The wall is simple but just enough to add some texture and color to this large blank wall and it seems to function better here, closer to the door we use and the kitchen.
