Spring has sprung and I’m sure by now you have put away most of your cold weather layers in favor of more light and airy pieces. I’ve been having fun every day going through my spring wardrobe. Some days I feel like I’m catching up with old friends when I pull something out I haven’t seen in more than 6 months. Winters are so long!
Anyway, my black skinny jeans are a fall and winter staple, but unlike my sweaters and boots, I don’t pack them away for Spring and Summer. Even though I love wearing more color and pattern in the warmer months, there is still plenty of wear I can get out of my black denim too. Today I’m sharing 6 of my favorite ways to style black denim for spring.

Spring in the NE is like a roller coaster. It will be almost 80 degrees one day and the next it won’t get above 55. Light layers my friends! This outfit is a great option for a casual day at work, grabbing lunch with a friend or running errands. Yes, these heels are comfortable enough for a few light errands without pain. The chunky heel keeps me feeling stable too.

Spring is a great time for road trips so when B travels for work, I like to work it in my schedule to go along sometimes. Exploring a new city on my own while he’s at work is a fun way to pass the time. This is especially true when I get to do things he would prefer not to do (like shopping). This simple outfit is comfortable and casual yet put together enough for an afternoon strolling through a museum or browsing an antique store. The block heel means I can walk all day without difficulty and the leather bag only looks better with age and keeps my hands free.
Oh and let me just say that I’m kind of obsessed with these tees. They take the guesswork out of the half-tuck and on my curvy body they always look more flattering than a regular tee. The neutral color is easy to mix with so many other things but looks great with my other neutrals too!

This is a super easy, low-key look for just about any time but I’m loving this for a casual date-night at a local brew pub with B or with friends. With the addition of the fedora, this would also be a great option for a Sunday brunch at a local cafe on the patio. The bag is an easy cross body that adds just a touch of “fun” to the look. I’m in love with the little bow on the front. So cute!

If you are like me and are anti-pajamma wearing in public then this is a great option for getting dressed without dressing up for those casual errands like groceries. This look lets those jeans function more like leggings especially if your shirt is a little longer.
Simple sneakers keep your feet comfortable for all the walking around and if you haven’t washed your hair, a fun ball cap would only add to the look.

For a dressier look for a night out on the town or even for the office, pair your black skinnies with a bold blouse and top with a blazer. I opted for this rush plum colored blouse and my striped blazer for my personality but all black or a palette of neutrals could also work.
I’ve added a little edge with the wedge booties and the black clutch helps make this more of a night-out look.

This is an easy, everyday kind of outfit. Great for a casual day in the office, it works for errands, running around on the weekend, shopping, dinner out, you name it. The slides are casual but I feel like the pointy style dresses them up and this top is simple but it’s not boring or sloppy looking.

Black denim is an easy staple through Fall and Winter but it can also be a great option for Spring (and Summer) too. Keep the black from feeling too stark by mixing in richer colors or layering the neutrals. Whether dressing black denim up or down, these jeans will be a staple all year round.
