The unofficial start to summer has come and gone and my brain is officially in Summer Mode! We’ve already hit the beach, enjoyed the salty air and I have pulled out all my fun, summer dresses. Despite all my dresses lately I have been really drawn to easy, casual pieces like t-shirts and drawstring pants.
I blame this shift toward a more casual look on blogging more and dialing back the public side of RC. I still want to look presentable but this more laid back lifestyle is bringing out a more casual side. My latest scores from LOFT and J Crew Factory have included tees and chinos so I thought I’d round up some of my current favorites for the casual summer lovers out there. Five items from Five different stores, all casual favorites.
Store 1: LOFT.com
I have had kind of a love/hate relationship with Loft over the years. So often I feel like I am between sizes with their clothes and sometimes I question the quality. My latest scores not only fit well but are good quality as well. Here are my top five favorites.
I can say from personal experience the chinos are a must! Add a cute blouse and a chambray blazer and you are good for the office. Pair with a simple tank or tee and flip flops for the weekend. I wish I had them in every color. The quality is great too!
- Cropped Skinny Chinos
- Vintage Soft Seamed Tank
- Linen Shirt Tail Tee
- Linen Blend Drawstring Shorts
- Vintage Soft V-Neck Tee
Store 2: JCrew Factory
J Crew Factory is a great place to find easy, casual separates. For me, the fit is always perfect and I am often able to take advantage of good sales. I own more pairs of the chino shorts than I care to admit and for the price, you can’t beat it. I’m also a big fan of the tank. You can never go wrong with a white tee or tank!
- Linen-Cotton Drawstring Pants
- Piece-Dyed Tank Top
- Studio T-Shirt
- 7″ Chino Shorts
- Cutoff Denim Shorts
Store 3: Gap
Gap was one of those stores that I have kind of been “over” for a while but with my tastes going a little more casual, I’ve been turning back for casual looks. I have been eyeing up the plaid popovers for a couple of months and this one is my favorite yet.
- Linen Girlfriend Chinos
- Stripe Linen Drapey Shorts (These are $20 right now!)
- Vintage Wash Crew Neck Tee (Currently $12)
- Vintage Wash Raglan Cap Sleeve Tee
- Plaid Popover Shirt
Store 4: Target
I’ve gotten away from hitting up Target when I’m looking for easy casual pieces but at $8 the tees and tanks are worth it. A light weight bomber works well over a tee shirt but can also be layered over a dress. It’s a great alternative to a denim jacket.
- Women’s Vintage V Tee
- Women’s Racerback Tank
- Mid Rise Bermuda White Shorts
- Women’s Crop Flair Denim
- Bomber Jacket
Store 5: Evereve
A current favorite for fashion right now, Evereve may be part of the reason I’m drawn more and more to casual looks. I’m no longer doing the monthly subscription but I’m still in love with their brands. I own the camo troopers, relaxed cargos and the skirt and they are some of the pieces I turn to week after week. The pieces can feel a bit pricey for casual wear but the quality of everything I have is more than worth the price!
Do you have a certain look that you tend to gravitate toward in the summer? Are there certain things you find yourself pulling out of your closet over and over again or are there certain items you are buying to add to your summer wardrobe? I’ve love to hear what you are loving for summer!
